Letter to the Editor, Victoria Advocate by Dale Jones, Chair, Campaign Cabinet

"Every day in Victoria and surrounding communities, a person in need is being helped by contributions made to the Victoria County United Way", said Dale Jones, Vice-President, klean corporation, international, and Chair, Campaign Cabinet.

"I made a personal commitment to serve as Chairman of the Victoria County Community Campaign because of the life changing work done by our local United Way in partnership with many volunteers and the 17 local partner agencies.

Firsthand, we see the positive impact from donations made by individuals, businesses and large companies to help provide food, clothing and shelter for people in need.

Some agencies support basic needs (Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry, Victoria County Senior Citizens, Perpetual Help Home, Habitat for Humanity, Community Action Agency).  Others focus on special needs of emergency disaster assistance (Red Cross), victims of domestic abuse, substance abuse and preventive care (Mid-Coast Family Services, Billy T. Cattan Recovery Outreach, Gulf Bend Center, STARS, Hope of South Texas).

Special needs of children are also a core part of United Way, from being their court advocates (CASA) to providing a safe place and activities (Boys & Girls Club, Communities in Schools, YMCA, Victoria Adult Literacy Council).

Only through the support of individual contributors, companies and employees can VCUW and these agencies continue to make such a profound difference in lives!

We hope you will support the work done by so many volunteers with a contribution, which can be made on our website: http://www.unitedwayvictoria.org),  or contact us if you want to volunteer or for more information on how your gift makes the difference in so many lives!"
